The accompanying program of the Book Fair in Andrićgrad was complemented by a round table “Education and the Truth about the Past”, the participants were prof. Zoran Avramović, PhD, prof. dr Miloš Ković, doc. Dr Borivoje Milošević and Želidrag Nikčević.
At the round table, there were words about numerous misunderstandings and open manipulations in the interpretation of the near future of the Serbian people and its interpretations in the public, about the very serious problem of teaching history in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, about gross inconsistencies and forgeries in textbooks, especially in terms of the interpretation of the causes of the civil war in the former Yugoslavia.
It was noted that to the Serbian people on various sides others tend to impose the ultimate guilt for the tragic events of the disintegration of the former joint state, with the accusation campaign extending to the distant past, with the obvious aim of demonizing the entire Serbian history and Serbian national goals.
It was concluded that such tendencies should be opposed with a persistent struggle for a scientifically corroborated truth, and from the meeting an appeal was sent to institutions funded by citizens’ funds, dealing with science and culture, to more seriously devote themselves to systematic work on the protection of Serbian national interests.
