У суботу, 6. јуна, Андрићев институт у Андрићграду је имао част да угости познате и увежене професоре са Harvard-a и Yalle-a, проф. др Zhang Longxi и проф. др Rajeev S. Patke. Они су били учесници међународне научне конференције “Културе у преводу“ у организацији Филолошког факултета Универзитета у Београду и оделења за књижевност Андрићевог института.

Последњег дана конференције одржане у Андрићграду, поред руководиоца Одјељења за књижевност, проф. др Александра Вранеш, излагали су проф. др Љиљана Марковић са Филолошког факултета у Београду, новинар РТС-а Наталија Синановић, Зорица Прњат са Географског факултета Универзитета у Београду и други.

Професор Rajeev S. Patke је проферсор хуманистичких наука и Директор одељења хуманистичких наука, на Катедри за енглески језик и књижевност, Yalle-NUS Колеџа. Професор Patke своје истраживање фокусира на постколонијалне студије, савремену ирску поезију, савремене апликације из списа Waltera Bejamina, као и на однос између литературе и уметности, посебно сликарства и музике. Његова најпознатија дела су: “The Long Poems of Wallace Stevens: An Interpretative Study“ издата 1985., а поново објављена 2009., “Postcolonial Poetry in English“ објављена 2006, “The Routledge Concise History of Southeast Asian Writing in English“ објављеан 2009, “Modernist Literature and Postcolonial Studies“, 2013, The Poetry of Islands and the Islands of Poetry“ која је планирана за издавање 2017. године.

Zhang Longxi је водећи научник за источно-западњачке крос-културалне студије. Предавао је на Harvard-u, Riverside University of California, а тренутно је председавајући професор компаративне књижевности и превођења City University of Hong Kong. Његови истраживачки интереси су везани за Источно-западњачке крос-културалне студије, а његова објављена дела су: “Literary Hermeneutics, East and West“, издата 1992., “Mighty Opposites: From Dichotomies to Differences in the Comparative Study of China“, 1998., “Out of the Cultural Ghetto“, 2000., “Allegoresis: Reading Canonical Literature East and West“, 2005., “Unexpected Affinities: Reading across Cultures“, 2007., “An Introduction to Comparative Literature“, 2009., “A Spiritual Epic: Paradise Lost“, објављена 2010.

Након завршеног скупа учесници су имали прилику да се упознају са Андрићградом, историјом и културом Балкана утканом у архитектонску замисао Емира Кустурице, а потом је дружење учесника настављено на броду Лотика, вожњом кањоном Дрине и обиласком вишеградске ћуприје. У вечерњим часовима, учесници су присуствовали отварању историјске изложбе фотографија из Првог светског рата “Немојте нас заборавити“ ратног фоторепортера Ристе Марјановића.[:en]patkee

During the weekend, on Saturday, June 6, the Andrić Institute in Andrićgrad had the honor to host the famous and respected professors from Harvard and Yale, Prof. Dr. Zhang Longxi and Prof. Dr. Rajeev S. Ducks. They were participants of the international scientific conference „Culture in translation“ organized by the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade and the Department of Literature of the Andrić Institute.

On the last day of the conference held in Andrićgrad, besides the Head of the Department of Literature, Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Vraneš, also spoke Prof. Dr. Ljiljana Marković from the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, RTS journalist Natalija Sinanović, Zorica Prnjat from the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade and others.

Professor Rajeev S. Ducks is a Professor of the humanities and Director of the Department of Human Sciences, at the Department of English Language and Literature, Yale-NUS College. Professor Ducks focuses his research on the postcolonial studies, contemporary Irish poetry, contemporary applications from the writings of Walter Benjamin, as well as on the relationship between literature and art, especially painting and music. His most famous works are: „The Long Poems of Wallace Stevens: An Interpretative Study“ published in 1985 and republished in 2009, „Postcolonial Poetry in English“ published in 2006, „The Routledge Concise History of Southeast Asian Writing in English“ published in 2009, „Modernist Literature and Postcolonial Studies“, 2013, The Poetry of Islands and the Islands of Poetry“, which is planned to be issued in 2017.

Zhang Longxi is the lead scientist for the east-west cross-cultural studies. He has taught at Harvard, the University of California, Riverside, and is currently chairman professor of comparative literature and translation of the City University of Hong Kong. His research interests are related to east-west cross-cultural studies, and his published works are: „Literary Hermeneutics, East and West“, issued in 1992, „Mighty Opposites: From dichotomies that differences in the Comparative Study of China“, 1998 ., „Out of the Cultural News“, 2000, „Allegoresis: Reading Canonical Literature East and West,“ 2005 „Unexpected Affinities: Reading Across Cultures,“ 2007, „An Introduction to Comparative Literature“, 2009, „A Spiritual Epic Paradise Lost“, published, 2010.

After the conference, the participants had the opportunity to get familiarized with Andrićgrad, history and culture of the Balkans woven into the architectural concept of Emir Kusturica, and then socializing of the participants continued on a boat “Lotika”, cruising through the Drina canyon and a below the Bridge on the Drina. In the evening, participants attended the opening of the exhibition of historical photographs from the First World War, „Do not forget us“, of a war photographer Risto Marjanović
