To mark the centenary of the death of Petar Kočić in Andric Institute was organized a two-day scientific conference dedicated to the creative work of this writer. With this scientific conference, which was held from 25 to 26 June, organized the Department of Literature of the Andrić Institute, also began the First book fair in Andrićgrad.
The participants, experts in Kočić’s works from Serbia and Republic of Srpska, illuminated from different angles some lesser known aspects of his creative poetics.
Head of the Department of Literature of the Andrić Institute, prof. Dr. Aleksandra Vraneš, presented the details of Kočić correspondence from his youth on the education abroad, through contacts with national workers to its full literary communication with colleagues.
Speaking about the peculiarities of Kočić’s storytelling, prof. Dr. Jovan Delić pointed to a pronounced lyrical line in his prose and “a strong feeling of erotic and instinctive, and it experienced from a woman’s perspective.” Delić said that Kočić is the creator of the most unusual hero of the modern Serbian literature, that is priest from Mračaj, a Cycle of stories of Simeon, and it belongs to a”Serbian Gogol tradition with elements of Don Quixote’s way”.
Prof. Dr. Sanja Macura in the description and identification of the types of focalization in the narrative texts by Petar Kočić noted that in his prose “the use of a certain type of focalization is primarily a function of the design of the characters and design chronotope”, while Mr. Jovan Pejčić dealt with deep structures of three embodiments of Petar Kočić “From the book by Simeun, the Pupil”, “Prayer” and “Freedom”. He pointed to a dimension which “embodies the nature and direction of the national overwork, piousness and the messianic spirit of Kočić’s work”.
