Among the latest editions of the Department of Literature of the Andrić Institute is the book “Serbian Writers of the 20th Century” by Midhat Begić, which was presented during the program of the Book Fair in Andrićgrad.
The book was edited by Radovan Vučković, who in the preface about Begić says following: “As comparativists by profession, and advocating for the Serbo-Croatian rapprochement, Begić is often interpreted more writers and work simultaneously, and thus proved the universality of literary ideas and writing techniques. Such understanding allowed him to see wider and more open all Serbian writers and their works than the other ones, and also to see them without narrow national boundaries. ”
Dr Jovan Delić, professor at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade introduced the participants with the biography Midhat Begić, who in 1958 defended his doctoral dissertation on Jovan Skerlić at the Faculte des Lettres in Lyon, worked as a lecturer and established “Izraz”, the magazine for literature and art critics .
